AFHL U15AA Post-Season Preview

RED DEER – The AFHL U15 AA season has concluded, and 14 teams are vying for the league championship. The first round of playoffs is scheduled for this weekend, with all six series kicking off on Friday, February 28. The Lloydminster Steelers secured the top position in the North Division with 76 points and a record of 25-3-1-2. The South Division was claimed by the Red Deer Chiefs, who finished with a league-leading 80 points and a record of 26-2-2-1. Red Deer also recorded the most goals in the season (120) and allowed the fewest (55).  

STANDINGS >

Red Deer Chiefs forward Reece Lacina led the way for most of the season, registering 1.97 points per game. Lacina collected 37 goals and 61 points in 31 games, taking home the league scoring title and leading the league in goals. Red Deer Chiefs goaltender Gracie Hughes finished as the leader in goals-against-average at 1.32 and save percentage with a .947. Red Deer and Lloydminster goaltenders Charlee Munro and Jordan Cornet shared the lead for most wins on the season with 14 wins each.  

The Red Deer Chiefs and Lloydminster Steelers have each secured a first-round bye and will advance directly to the second round, waiting for the winners of this weekend’s first-round series. The first-round series are best of three and include the following matchups:  

North Division 

(2) PCFAC Storm vs (7) SPKAC Royals 

(3) St. Albert Chargers vs (6) Edmonton Ice White 

(4) Edmonton Ice Blue vs (5) North Central Impact 

South Division 

(2) Calgary Fire Red vs (7) Airdrie Lightning 

(3) Calgary Fire Black vs (6) Rocky Mountain Raiders 

(4) Calgary Fire White vs (5) Southern Express
