RED DEER – The AFHL U18 AAA season wrapped up this past weekend, and all eight teams are now vying for the league championship. The St. Albert Slash and Rockey Mountain Raiders start things off tonight, with two more series starting on Wednesday and the final series kicking off on Thursday, March 6. The Edmonton Jr. Oilers had a strong hold on the league’s top position with 78 points and a record of 27-0-0-1, losing only once this season in overtime. The Oilers had the most goals for (124) and the fewest against (26), finishing with a goal differential of +98.
St. Albert Slash forward Tayla Lamabe led the way for most of the season, registering 1.36 points per game. Lamabe collected 24 goals and 34 points in 25 games, taking home the league scoring title and leading the league in goals. Edmonton Jr. Oilers goaltender Taya Christie finished as the leader in goals-against-average (0.78) and save percentage (.960). Christie’s partner, Ella Dunham-Fox, secured the most wins on the season with 15.
